This thesis is entitled: ‘The Characteristics Of Language Function Of Bau Lolong In Reka Wu’u Ceremony Of Lamaholot Society’. This s research aims to describe the language function of the Bau Lolong traditional ceremony in the Reka Wu'u ritual. The writer formulates one research question as follows: What is the Characteristics of Language Functions of Bau Lolong in Reka Wu'u Ceremony of Lamaholot Society. The theory used in this reserach is the language function theory initiated by Roman Jacobson. The goal to be achieved in this study is to determine the function of language used in the Reka Wu'u ritual in Wailebe Village, Wotan Ulumado District, East Flores Regency. The method of this research is qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and documentation. The writer chose one informant who knows and has the mandate to speak the Lamaniat language code (speech). Data collection was carried out by interviewing, recording and documenting. The writer presents the results of interviews with informants. The researcher presents the data in the form of narrative descriptions. Based on the data from the field research, it can be concluded that the Reka Wu'u traditional ritual is a ritual of thanksgiving for the harvest carried out by the Lewotana sub-tribe every year.
