This research is entitled “An Analysis of Anecdote in Bintang Emon’s Stand-Up Comedy Materials”. This study aims to analyze the language style and diction used by Bintang Emon in his produced anecdotes and to examine their potential as teaching materials in English learning in senior high school, particularly in the context of teaching anecdotes. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative method with discourse analysis techniques to identify and interpret the use of language styles, such as figurative language, and word choices that reflect Bintang Emon's distinctive character. The data were collected from 5 stand-up comedy videos published on several YouTube channel. In this types of language style and diction, researcher found 187 types of language style and diction. In the first classification of direct and indirect meaning which is rhetorical language style, the researcher found 19 from 19 rhetorical language style. The researcher found 1 of apostrophe, 2 of asyndenton, 15 of hyperbole, 1 of euphemism. Meanwhile, the second classification which is figurative language style, the researcher found 41 data from 14 of figurative language style are applied in 5 stand-up comedy videos from Bintang Emon. The researcher found 3 of metaphores, 3 of simile, 1 of epithet, 16 of irony, 5 of sarcarm, and 13 of satire. For the types of diction, the researcher found 127 data; 19 of denotative meaning, 26 of connotative meaning, 13 of linguistic context, 11 of nonlinguistic context, 13 of synonym, 14 of antonym, 9 data of homonymy, 11 of polysemy, and 11 of hyponymy.
