<note>Abstract. This study uses a phenomenological and qualitative study, the subject are several family that parents who use the fairy tale media.The purpose of this study is to explain how a fairy tale can be used as a media to instill positive values in children. The results showed that the cultivation of positive values  arise from extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation comes from a parent who has left the fairy tale media. Intrinsic motivation compelled on extrinsic motivation in the form of inspiration, knowledge, principles and beliefs held by parents. Fairy tale with reality concept applied by parents make a fairy tale as a proper media in supporting the developmental tasks of children and encourage children to think logically and concrete. Fairy tales also be part of parenting democratic this is reflected in the presentation of a fairy tale democratically by dialogue, repetitive, creative and supportive so that children can receive the value such us knowledge, moral values, religious values, social value, skills and creativity openly without dogma and coercion.The positive response of children reflected by the development of cognitive, affective and psychomotor heading in a positive direction, of which the child can apply the values presented in the fairy tale that is the value of sharing, children begin to worship and to support the talent and creativity of children.
