<note>This thesis is entitled: “Semiotic Analysis of Noni and Puah Manus Trditional Wedding Ceremony in Kolbano Sub District, South Central Timor Regency". The research problems of this study are: (1) what are the stages in noni and puah manus traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency (2) what are the symbols used in noni and puah manus traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency? (2) what are the meanings of those symbols in the noni and puah manus traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency? This study aims to find out the stages in noni and puah manus ttraditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor Regency, to identify symbols of noni and puah manus in traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency and to describe the meanings of those symbols of noni and puah manus traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency. The research design used was descriptive qualitative method. This research was conducted in Se’I village, Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency on march, 2024. The researcher selected three informants as the data resource. The techniques used to collect data were triangulation technique; observation, interview, audio recording, note taking, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using identifying and describing techniques. The result shows that are 11 symbols used in noni and puah manus traditional wedding ceremony in Kolbano sub district, South Central Timor regency. They are: bie (cow), fafi (pig), lipa (batik cloth), tais (sarong), fanu (kebaya), mau (blanket), loit/noni (money), oko mama (betel nut place), manus (betel), puah (areca nut), ao (lime). Types of meanings of those symbols are: (a) connotative meaning. For example: bie (cow), fafi (pig). These objects contain connotative meaning because they refer to the expression of communication when people deliver a message without the words but by using action. (b) social meaning. For example: bie (cow), lipa (batik cloth), tais (sarong), fanu (kebaya), mau (blanket), loit/noni (money). These objects contain social meaning because they are used by the people in communication that refers to the social circumstances of the speaker’s and related to life in a social group. (c) Cultural meaning. For example: lipa (batik cloth), tais (sarong), fanu (kebaya), mau (blanket), loit/noni (money), oko mama (betel nut place) manus (betel), puah (areca nut), ao (lime). These objects contain cultural meaning because they symbolized a high appreciation in human interaction and to build a good communication with others in a cultural context.
