This thesis is entitled : ‘Implementig Skimming Thechnique to Improve Reading Comprehension of Tenth Grade Students of SMA Kristen Tunas Gloria in Academic Year of 2023/2024 . The problem of this study is can skimming technique impove reading comprehension of tenth grade students of SMA Tunas Gloria Kupang in academic year of 2023/2024? This study aims to know whether the skimming technique can improve reading comprehension of tenth grade students of SMA Tunas Gloria Kupang.The type of research design was Classroom Action Research. The research subjects were 36 students of grade 10-D of SMA Kristen Tunas Gloria in academic year 2023/2024. The instruments used were a test consists of 10 items, and an observation. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of observation data and student learning outcomes to determine the implementation of learning and student completeness in the learning process. The result shows that the implementing skimming technique can improve English reading skill of the tenth grade students of SMA Kristen Tunas Gloria. This can be seen from the results of students’ scores in the pre-test and post-test in the first cycle. The level of students’ reading skill in the pre-test was below the average that is 53 or 30%. There were only 11 students of 36 students got the successful criteria. In the post test the students reading skill level increased significantly that is 80 or 89%. Most of the students that is 32 students got the successful criteria. It can be concluded that the skimming technique can improve reading skill of tenth grade students at SMA Kristen Tunas Gloria in academic year 2023/2024.
