<note>This thesis is entitled: ' Item Analysis on English Semester Test Composed by English Teacher of Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 12 Kota Kupang in Academic Year 2023/2024’. The problem of this research is (1) What is the difficulty level of the items composed by the English teacher of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 12 Kota Kupang in academic year 2023/2024? (2) What is the level of discrimination of the test items composed by the English teacher of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 12 Kota Kupang in academic year 2023/2024? This research aims (1) To determine the level of difficulty of the test items composed by the English teacher of the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 12 Kota Kupang in academic year 2023/2024. (2) To find out the level of discrimination of the test items composed by the English teacher of eight grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Kupang in academic year 2023/2024. The research design will be used is descriptive quantitative method. This research was conducted in SMPN 12 Kupang. The data resource of this study is the English semester test composed by an English teacher of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 12 Kota Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024. The collected data furthermore was  analysed based on the criteria of difficulty level and level of discrimination. After the researcher had done the tabulation and analyzed the items of the English semester test and the result of the study or score obtained by the student, he classified the test items based on difficulty level and level of discrimination. The difficulty level of test items of the English semester test analyzed by the criteria of Nitko (1996) as follows: 0,00 - 0,30 = the items are difficult, 0,31 - 0,70 = the items are medium, 0,71 – 1,00 = the items are easy. In the analysis level of discrimination of the English semester test of SMP Negeri 12 Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024, discrimination index 0,40-1,00 = The items should be used, discrimination index 0,20-0,39 = The items should be revised, discrimination index 0,00-0,19 = The items should be changed.
