<note>This thesis is entitled : An Analysis of Figurative Language Found In Hel Keta Poem In Oenenu Village In Kefamenanu. This study aimed to identify the types of figurative language found in the Hel Keta poem from Oenenu Village in Kefamenanu, Indonesia, and explore the meanings of the figurative language used. The research problems addressed were: 1) What are the types of figurative language found in the Hel Keta poem? and 2) What are the meanings of the figurative language found in the poem? The Hel Keta poem is a traditional oral poem used in wedding ceremonies involving families or villages that were previously in conflict. Through a qualitative descriptive analysis, various types of figurative language were identified, including allusions, allegories, hyperboles, and symbols. Allusions like "white eyes," "cat eyes," "white-toothed," and "black-toothed" represented different groups, distinguishing the local Oenenu people from foreigners or outsiders. Allegories such as "guarding our area" and "guarding our customs" symbolized protecting their land, territory, and cultural traditions. Symbolic language reinforced themes of cultural identity, belonging, and connection to the ancestral homeland. The findings suggest the figurative language revolved around cultural preservation, assertion of sovereignty, and the local people's deep relationship with their land and traditions. This study contributes to understanding the rich cultural heritage expressed through figurative language in traditional literary works.
