Figurative language is language that used by someone to express something indirectly whether its their ideas, or thoughts. They use some words, sentences or phrase that are beautiful and meaningful. Figurative language itself could be found all over, such as novels, movies, songs, and bibles. Based on that, this study is aims to analyze types of figurative language and the meaning of figurative language used in Song of Songs chapter one to chapter eight. This research were used a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the types of figurative language in Song of Songs based on X.J. Kennedy concept (1995). The researcher found 91 data of figurative language applied in Song of Songs chapter one to chapter eight. There are four types from nine types figurative language found in it, as follows: 18 data of Personification, 48 data of Metaphor, 20 data of Simile, and five data of Hyperbole. The reseracher also decsribes the meaning of figurative language that appears, which is refers to connotative meaning. Based on the theory that researcher adopt to analyze, there are five types of figurative language that are not found in the Song of Songs chapter one to chapter eight.
