This thesis is entitled “A Descriptive Study on the Traditional Engagement Ceremony in Pengodua Village, East Rote District.” The problems in this researcher: (1) What are the stages carried out in the traditional engagement ceremony in Pengodua village, east rote district?, (2) What are the cultural values of the stages of the traditional engagement ceremony in Pengodua village, East Rote District? (3) What are the symbolic objects that are involved in the traditional engagement ceremony in Pengodua village, East Rote District?, and (4) What are the cultural values of the objects used in the traditional engagement ceremony in Pengodua Village,East Rote District? The method used in the research was empirical research with a qualitative approach. Data collection methods and techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews, and video taking and then analyzed by using descriptive analysis techniques. The result showed that the traditional engagement ceremony in this village consists of medieval ritual stages that contain cultural symbols, as well as strong customary values. The procession not only strengthens relationships between individuals but also has an important social function in strengthening family ties and community solidarity. This research emphasizes the importance of understanding local wisdom in maintaining the cultural heritage of the Rote community.
