This study aims to analyze the use of politeness strategies by the characters in Kaboax’s YouTube channel and to explore potential violations of politeness principles. The research questions are: (1) what are the types of politeness strategies used by the characters in kaboax’s youtube channel? (2) what are the types of politeness principles violated by the character in kaboax’s youtube channel? This research employs a descriptive-qualitative method. The data source consists of four videos from the KAMPUNG TAWA series, entitles: JADI WALIKOTA, CINTA MATI, ADA LOWONGAN KERJA, and NARIS PNS. To analyze the data, the researcher used identification, classification, and description techniques. The results show that there are four types of politeness strategies used by the characters, namely bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The most dominant types used by the characters is bald on record with 19 data. Furthermore, there are five types of politeness principles that are violated by the characters, namely violations of the tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, and sympathy maxim. The most frequently violated politeness principle is the approbation maxim with four data. Additionally, the characters tend to use politeness strategies than violated the politeness principle.
