<note>This study focuses on the symbolic meanings of traditional weaving motifs found in Se’i Village. The research highlights four specific motifs: Futu kai’ mnutu, lotis, buna, and fut’ kolo, each of which holds cultural and symbolic significance closely tied to the identity, beliefs, and worldview of the Dawan community. The research problems of this study as follows; (1) What are the characteristics of  the symbols in traditional weaving in Se’I village? (2) What are the symbolic meanings of those symbols? The objectives of this study are to identify the characteristics of the traditional weaving symbols and to interpret their symbolic meanings based on local cultural values. This research uses a qualitative method with Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach, which classifies signs into icons, indexes, and symbols. Data were collected through field observation, interviews with traditional weavers and cultural figures, and visual documentation. The findings reveal that these motifs are not merely decorative but serve as visual representations that communicate cultural values, social identity, and ancestral beliefs passed down through generations. This study is expected to strengthen the understanding of traditional weaving as a medium for cultural expression and support efforts to preserve local cultural heritage.
