<note>This study aims to explore the use of memes as a teaching media in a speaking class in Nusa Cendana university. The study used qualitative descriptive since it seeks to investigate how memes are utilized as opportunistic media to teach speaking skill. The data presented from both classroom observations and student interviews with students indicate that the "obscurity" type of meme appears to be the most appropriate type for teaching speaking. Overall, the students' perceptions towards using memes, particularly obscurity memes in teaching speaking, were predominantly positive. Using memes has shown significant potential to enhance student engagement, participation, and learning outcomes. It is recommended to integrate memes more systematically into the speaking curriculum. By strategically incorporating memes into classroom activities and addressing student preferences, educators can create a more dynamic and effective learning environment for developing speaking skills in the right way.
