<note>This research aimed to find out the strategies used by the English teacher in teaching reading comprehension and how the teacher applied those strategies in the classroom. The research was guided by two questions: what strategies are used by the English teacher in teaching reading comprehension and how does the English teacher apply the strategies in teaching reading comprehension. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from one English teacher who taught seventh-grade students at St. Theresia Junior High School. The instruments used in this study were interviews and classroom observations. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the teacher used four main strategies in teaching reading comprehension: predicting, questioning, clarifying, and summarizing. These strategies are based on the theory of Reciprocal Teaching proposed by Palinscar and Brown (1984). In the predicting strategy, the teacher asked students to guess the content of the text before reading. In the questioning strategy, students were guided to generate and answer questions related to the text. The clarifying strategy helped students overcome difficulties in understanding unfamil iar words or complex sentences. Lastly, in the summarizing strategy, students were encouraged to identify the main idea and restate the text using their own words. These strategies supported students’ engagement and improved their reading comprehension through collaborative learning, discussion, and critical thinking. The study concludes that Reciprocal Teaching is effectively applied in the classroom to enhance students’ understanding of reading texts.
