<note>This qualitative study investigates the application of the demonstrative technique to enhance descriptive writing skills among Grade XA students at SMAK Santo Fransiskus Asisi Larantuka. The research was guided by three main questions: (1) How is the demonstrative technique applied in teaching descriptive writing? (2) What are the results of using this technique on students’ descriptive writing performance? and (3) What obstacles do students face in adopting it? Data were collected through writing tests, classroom observations, structured interviews, and teacher feedback. The study was conducted over two sessions focusing on descriptive writing tasks using classroom and school environment objects.Findings indicate that the demonstrative technique significantly improved students' ability to observe, describe, and organize ideas in their writing. Students demonstrated enhanced vocabulary usage, better sentence structure, increased engagement, and stronger paragraph coherence. Through hands-on observation and guided practice, they became more confident and expressive in composing descriptive texts. However, challenges were identified, including limited vocabulary, grammatical errors, unfamiliarity with the technique, and slow writing speed. Despite these difficulties, the demonstrative technique proved to be an effective instructional strategy, fostering active participation and improving the overall quality of students’ descriptive writing.
