This study aims to examine the syllable structure patterns and phoneme distribution in the Ngada language spoken in Golewa. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research was conducted in Wogo Village, Golewa District, Ngada Regency. The research identifies eleven distinct syllable structure patterns, including V, CV, V.V, CV.C, V.CV, CV.CV, CV.V.CV, CV.CV.V, CV.CV.CV, CV.CV.V.CV, and CV.CV.CV.CV. Additionally, the analysis reveals six vowel phonemes: /a/, /u/, /i/, /e/, /ɘ/, and /o/. Among these, five vowels demonstrate complete distribution across initial, medial and final positions, while /ɘ/ is limited to initial and medial positions. In contrast, the result reveals that there are twenty-one consonants identified. The 20 consonants phonemes namely /p/, /b/, /ɓ/ /t/, /d/, /ɗ/ /k/, /g/, /gʰ/, /m/, /n/, /ŋ/ /j/, /s/, /r/, /f/, /ʔ/, /w/, /z/, and /l/ were found to occur only in initial and medial positions. Moreover, the phoneme /h/ was found to be restricted to the initial position only. These insights contribute to a better understanding of the phonological characteristics of the Ngada language.
