<note>This thesis is entitled “Compound Words in Wanokaka Language of West Sumba Regency”. The research is restricted to answer some questions, they are: (1) What are the types of compound words in Wanokaka language? (2) What are the meanings of compound words in Wanokaka language? (3) What are the word class that compound the words in Wanokaka language? This research aimed at finding out the type, meaning of each compound words and the word class that compound the words in Wanokaka language. This research used qualitative descriptive method to analyze the data and data were collected through interview and audio recording.  The result of this research demonstrated that there six compound words found in Wanokaka language: First is compound noun which includes noun (N) with noun (N) combination; wua ai ‘fruits’ is formed by a noun wua ‘fruit’ and another noun ai ‘wood’, verb (V) with noun (N) combination; angu babaru ‘breakfast’ is built by a verb angu ‘eat’ and a noun babaru ‘morning’, and adjective (Adj) with noun (N) combination; jaga ngara ‘well-known’ is constructed by an adjective jaga ‘tall’ and a noun ngara ‘name’. Second is compound adjective which includes noun (N) with adjective (Adj) combination; umma hiddu ‘hospital’ is built by combining a noun umma ‘house’ and an adjective hiddu ‘sick’ and Adjective (Adj) with Adjective (Adj) combination; kaka makakkah ‘clean white’ is formed by an adjective kaka ‘white’ and another adjective makakkah ‘clean’. Last is compound verb which is verb (V) with verb (V) combination; talu tiddung ‘defiant’ is constructed by a verb talu ‘win’ and another verb tiddung ‘uphold’. This research reveals six types of compound words as the highlight of the dynamic nature of Wanokaka language and suggests avenues for future research exploring more the elements of language that exist in Wanokaka language.
