<note>This research is a study of social media use, namely Facebook and YouTube in English learning for 7th grade Students at Anauban State Middle School. This research aims to provide evidence and information to social media users, especially of SMPN Anauban students, about how social media and the internet can be used to learn English. The results of this research will most likely provide information on how social media can provide several benefits for its users to hone their English skills. This research uses the classroom action method with qualitative descriptions. Data was collected from observations, interviews, and tests (pre-test and post-test). Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the average score for students' social media use in 7th grade of SMPN Anauban is in the good category, meanwhile the average students learning motivation score is in the good category, so the use of social media has a positive effect on learning motivation class VII student at SMPN Anauban. This analysis is also in line with the results of interviews conducted in the school, where the students stated that there was no significant impact both positive and negative on the use of using social media on English learning. The results of the study indicate that the use of social media is quite effective in increasing students' interest and motivation to learn English. However, this study also found that limited network access in the school area is an obstacle in the use of social media as a learning tool. This study provides implications on the importance of considering technological infrastructure in the implementation of social media as a learning tool in remote schools.
