<note>This study was carried out under the title “The Implementation of Character Education in English Learning at SMP Negeri 13 Kupang.” The subject of this study was the eight grade of SMP Negeri 13 Kupang. This research address two research questions: First, what character education values have been applied in English learning in the second grade of SMP Negeri 13 Kupang? And the second is what are the supporting and inhibiting factors of implementing character education in English learning at SMP Negeri 13 Kupang. The aim of this research are to know what character education values are applied in English learning in the eight grade of SMP Negeri 13 Kupang and too see the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing character education in English learning. This research use qualitative method. The data were obtained by interview, observation, and documentation. The subject of this research was grade eight students and the English teacher of grade eight in SMP Negeri 13 Kupang. The interview was used to describe the teachers concept and knowledge about character education and its implementation during the English teaching and learning process. Also to describe the supporting and inhibiting factors that has been faced by the English teacher in implementing the values of character education. Meanwhile the observational checklist used to observe the values of character education  that has been applied in English learning process by the English teacher. The result of this study indicated that in grade eight of SMP Negeri 13 Kupang, the English teacher has applied 8 values of 18 character education values. Namely Religious, Tolerance, Democratic, Curiosity, Communicative, Appreciating Achievement, Love of Reading, and Environmental Awareness in learning activities. The Supporting factors in the implementation of character education in english learning are the teacher’s role,current curriculum, and the supporting parents. The inhibiting factors are the student negative traits and the lack of resources.
