<note>This research focuses on the use of pictures their kinds are legend and fairy tale to improve reading skills in understanding the narrative text of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Kupang. This research aims to know whether the use of pictures can improve reading skills in understanding narrative text. In this research, the researcher used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang, especially eighth grade students in the academic year 2024/2025. The population of this study was 250 students, the researcher choose and focus only one class, with 22 students were selected as the sample.This study used quantitative methods and consists of two cycles because the researcher also wanted to find out the improvement of the student's reading skills when they read by without using pictures and when they read by using pictures. In collecting data, students were given a multiple-choice test with a total number of 40 items (a single answer). In the pre-test cycle 1, the students' reading skills level was still low with the average score, that is 48,18 and the was percentage 18,18%. There were 4 students out of 22 students who achieved minimum achievement criteria (KKM). In the post-test cycle 2, the level of students' reading skills in the post-test was increased significantly with the average score was 75,68 and the percentage was 59,09%. There were 13 students out of 22 students who achieved minimum achievement criteria (KKM). It can be concluded that the using pictures can improve the reading skills in understanding narrative text of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Kupang in the academic year 2024/2025.
