This study explores the semiotic aspects of traditional wedding ceremonies in Toineke Village, Kualin District, South Central Timor. The primary aims of this research are: (1) to identify the symbols used in the traditional wedding rituals of the Toineke community, and (2) to analyze the meanings of those symbols from a semiotic perspective. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method, using Charles Sanders Peirce’s and Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theories as analytical frameworks. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, video recordings, and photo documentation. The results revealed nine main symbols commonly used in Toineke traditional weddings: Oko mama (areca nut box), areca nut, betel, money, pig, tray, shirt, blanket, and traditional clothes. Each of these symbols carries specific cultural, social, or connotative meanings related to respect, appreciation, identity, and social values. This study is expected to provide deeper insight into the cultural significance of wedding symbols and help preserve the traditional values of the Toineke community through academic documentation.
