This thesis describes critical discourse analysis in Donald Trump's speech. CDA is a discourse analysis related to the study of language or language usage. How language is viewed in discourse analysis. It investigates the elements of critical discourse analysis that emerge in Donald J Trump’s speech. The writer mainly utilizes the structure critical discourse analysis theory by Van Dijk (1998), which consists of three analysis structures: macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. This research uses qualitative methods and also uses descriptive techniques to describe and analyze data. Stages of data collection conducted by the writer include searching and downloading the data, next watching and verifying the data. The writer conducts the analysis phase, namely, identifying the data, classifying the data, analyzing, and drawing the conclusion. As a result, 112 data were noticed as linguistic features from one chosen speech of Donald J Trump entitled: Trump’s inauguration speech. The CDA structure reveals that Donald J Trump consistently used repetition and irony to involve the emotional attachment of the addressee by using logical facts and emotional involvement. The use of pronouns mostly aims to show the unity represented by the pronouns 'we', but Trump also expressed strength by using the pronouns 'I'. Then Trump tended to make a negative representation of another person group to get his positive representation. Furthermore, pronouns are mostly aimed at showing unity as the strategy to convince and persuade the addressee to be in accord with his argument and the administration’s resolution.
