<note>Language is a tool to communicate with the human through spoken, written, or symbols. Symbols used to communicate are usually found in works of art such as weaving. Semiotic is the science of meaning, a meaning behind the symbols. The Symbols we can find the symbols in the cultures. In this research, the researcher analyzed the symbol and the meaning of each symbol of Hinggi kombu. The aims of this research are 1) To know the kinds of symbols found on the Hinggi kombu traditional weaving cloth for men in East Sumba and 2) To describe the semiotic meanings found on each symbol on the Hinggi kombu traditional weaving cloth for men in East Sumba. It is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at Prailiu village, Kambera sub-district East Sumba. The result of this research proves that there are 10 symbols and the meaning of each symbol that are contained on Hinggi kombu traditional weaving cloth for men in East Sumba they are Mahang (lion), Kabebak (butterfly), Njara (horse), Mamuli (jewelry of Sumba), Tau (human), kaka (parrots), Manu (roster), Kurrangu (shrimp), Ruhha (deer), and Mandu hawurung (dragon). The researcher hopes the further researchers can find more symbols that not be found by the researcher.
