<note>This research explores The Critical Discourse Analysis of Donald Trump's Presidential Campaign Speeches in New York City 2016. The study aims to find out the types and functions of sentences in Donald Trump's Presidential Campaign Speeches in 2016?. This is a qualitative research method. The result shows that A) types of sentences consist of A) Simple sentences like 1) I (S) announced (V).2) every single American (S) will have (V) the opportunity to realize his fellow potential (C).3) She (S) congratulated (V) us, about us (DO).4) They (S) would not go to bring (V) us (IO) the promised land (DO). 5) They (S) are beating (V) our economy (O) Now (C). B) compound sentence namely: 1) A semi-colon as It's going to happen; we have a great economic plan.2) A semi-colon, followed by a connecting adverb like Now, but I said don’t hit Iraq because you going to destabilize the middle east cos Iran is going to stabilize the middle east.3) A coordinating conjunction like I will be the president for all Americans and this is so important to me. 4) Complex Sentence like we need somebody that makes America great again.5) Compound complex like. I’ve just received a call from secretary Clint and her family (IC) She congratulated us, about us. On our victory (IC) And I congratulated her on a very, very hard campaign. (DC). The function of sentence namely: 1) to declare direct statement like we will make America great again. 2) To display a simple list like I will build a great, great wall and a certain border. 3) To give concise directions like but if I elected president ….we will make America great again. 4) To ask a question, such as: When did we beat Japan? ..and what do we do? When was the last time you saw an alien in Tokyo?.. When do we beat Mexico at the border? C) The function compound   Sentences like 1) to combine similar ideas like So now Iziz......Think of Iran is going to take over Iraq. 2) To compare contrasting ideas such as I love China… I love them, but their leaders are much smarter than our leader3) To convey cause and effect or chain of events like well you need somebody because politicians are all talk, ….believe me to the promised land.4) To elaborate on acclaim or extend reasoning like we have people have no intensive to work…. because the greatest social program is a job…..and we gonna be arriving for this country. All the sentences used are based on grammatical sentences unless the words gonna and wanna. Thus, the sentences used is very crucial for the listener in public speaking, especially in the presidential campaign.
