This study is entitled: “The Metaphoric Expressions of Social Harmony in Lio Language”. The study was conducted to answer the problems, such as; (1) what are the expressions of social harmony in Lio language? (2)What are the types of metaphor used in each expression? The aims are to find out the expressions of social harmony in Lio language and to describe the meanings and of each expression and also to describe the types of metaphor used in each expression. In conducting this research the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained from interview with Lio people and documentation. The data were analyzed by identifying, and describing. The result shows that there were 9 expressions of social harmony in Lio language. The types of the metaphors were divided into nine types, namely metaphor of being, metaphor of cosmos, metaphor of energy, metaphor of substance, metaphor of terrestrial, metaphor of object, metaphor of living, metaphor of animate and metaphor of human.
