This research was to find out the types and the functions of reduplication of Bajawa Language. The research technique for collecting data was recording. The method used to analyze the data descriptive qualitative method. The result of data analysis shows that the Bajawa language has three types of reduplication. They are (a) full reduplication, that is reduplication of all the base words, for example; azi-azi“brothers”, mogo-mogo “together”, la’a-la’a “travel”, modhe-modhe “kind”;(b) semantic reduplication, that is the change of a base word combined with another base word that has the same meaning, for example; ri’o-ra’o“very diligent”, risi-rese “talk too much”, ngemu-ngetu“mumble”; (c) reduplication with affixation, for example; kobe“nigtht” gekobe-kobe“every nigtht”, robha“morning” gerobha-robha“every morning”. There are four functions of reduplication in the Bajawa language; they are (a) to express the plurality function, for example azi(noun) azi-azi(plural); (b) to indicate intensive meaning for example denge(listen) denge-denge (listen more carefully); (c) to show iterative function for example magha (think) maghamagha(think again and again more carefully) and to express progressive function, for example degha (play) dhegha-dhegha (have fun).
