The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the use of movies in improving vocabulary mastery and to find out the difficulties faced by students in learning vocabulary using subtitles. The research design used was a qualitative and quantitative experimental method (mixed method), while this study was attended by 45 students in the third semester of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University as a sample. The results based on the data show an increase in students' vocabulary mastery after the application of learning with movie subtitles. In this research, the researcher used a test consisting of 25 items and interviews as the instrument. Based on interviews, the researcher found that students had difficulty learning vocabulary using movie subtitles. this is shown in the results of interviews that have been conducted by students. In addition, the teaching-learning process is more interesting with the movie as a learning media. Keywords: English Subtitle Movie, Vocabulary
