PENGARUH VARIASI SUHU PEMBAKARAN TERHADAP KUALITAS BAHAN 
BAKAR HASIL PIROLISIS SAMPAH PLASTIK

 Seiring dengan meningkatnya jumlah penduduk, laju penggunaan plastik pun terus 
meningkat dari tahun ke tahun, banyak sampah plastik yang terdapat dimana-mana akibat 
pembuangan sampah tidak pada tempatnya, masyarakat sering membakar sampah plastik 
tanpa memikirkan efeknya yang berbahaya bagi manusia, dan makluk hidup lain.. Proses 
pirolisis sampah plastik merupakan proses dekomposisi senyawa organik yang terdapat 
dalam plastik melalui proses pemanasan dengan sedikit atau tanpa melibatkan oksigen. Pada
proses pirolisis senyawa hidrokarbon rantai panjang yang terdapat pada plastik diharapkan 
dapat diubah menjadi senyawa hidrokarbon yang lebih pendek dan dapat dijadikan sebagai 
bahan bakar alternatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu terhadap 
perolehan minyak hasil pirolisis, mengetahui pengaruh suhu dan jenis plastik terhadap sifat 
fisik dari minyak hasil pirolisis. Jenis sampah plastik ini dilakukan dengan umpan yaitu 
sampah plastik jenis jenis PolyEthylene Terepthalate. Proses pirolisis dijalankan dalam 
reaktor semi batch dimana umpan sebanyak 1 kg dimasukan sekaligus dalam reaktor dan 
produk akan dihasilkan secara terus menerus. Proses pirolisis dilaksanakan selama 60 menit 
dengan variasi suhu 1500C Untuk memaksimalkan hasil pirolisis maka proses pirolisis 
dilakukan pada kondisi vakum. Viskositas minyak hasil pirolisis mendekati nilai viskositas 
dari minyak Premium. Densitas minyak hasil pirolisis mendekati nilai densitas dari bensin 
dan minyak tanah.

ABSTRACT
THE EFFECT OF BURNING TIME VARIATION ON THE QUALITY OF 
FUEL FROM PLASTIC WASTE PIROLYSIS

Along with the increasing population, the rate of plastic use continues to increase 
from year to year, a lot of plastic waste is everywhere due to improper disposal of garbage, 
people often burn plastic waste without thinking about its harmful effects on humans and 
other living creatures. The pyrolysis process of plastic waste is a process of decomposition of 
organic compounds contained in plastics through a heating process with little or no oxygen. 
In the pyrolysis process, long chain hydrocarbon compounds found in plastics are expected to 
be converted into shorter hydrocarbons and can be used as alternative fuels. This study aims 
to determine the effect of temperature on oil recovery from pyrolysis, to determine the effect 
of temperature and type of plastic on the physical properties of pyrolyzed oil. This type of 
plastic waste is carried out by bait, namely plastic waste type PolyEthylene Terepthalate. The 
pyrolysis process is carried out in a semi-batch reactor where as much as 1 kg of feed is 
entered at once in the reactor and the product will be produced continuously. The pyrolysis 
process is carried out for 60 minutes with a temperature variation of 1500C. To maximize the 
results of pyrolysis, the pyrolysis process is carried out under vacuum. The viscosity of the 
pyrolysis oil is close to the viscosity value of Premium oil. The density of pyrolysis oil is 
close to the density value of gasoline and kerosene.
