This title is selected based on the writer’s observations and experiences when communicating using WhatsApp, most of the WhatsApp group members use emojis when communicating. The research subject of this study is class A student of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in 2016 generations. This research was aimed to find out adjectives shown by the emojis used by class A student when communicating via WhatsApp group and to find out the context that helps class A student of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University to understand the emojis. The writer conducts this research uses a qualitative method and the type is a qualitative interpretative method because the writer conducts an observation of all the contents of the sign in the use of emojis on chat activities using WhatsApp. The result obtained from this research is twenty-five emojis in the chatting of the WhatsApp group named ‘The Amazing A’. The emojis are in different shapes and indicate different adjectives. The adjectives are shown in the context of communication. The context can be seen from 5W+1H questions namely who is speaking, to whom, where, when, how, and what were the functions of the utterance. In this research, the writer found all functions of speech as an offer, a command, a question and the most is as a statement. From the data obtained, the writer concludes that emojis can provide adjective meaning based on the context of the conversation in the WhatsApp group
