<note>This thesis is entitled "Language Attitude of Young People in Padung Village East Flores Regency and The Importance of English for Their Children." This study was conducted to answer these questions: (1) How is the language attitude of young people (ages 25-30) towards English in Ile Padung village? (2) How do they respond to the importance of learning English for their children? The aims of this study are: (1) To know about the language attitude of young people (ages 25-30) toward the English language in Ile Padung village and (2) To know the responses of Ile Padung people towards the importance of learning English for their children. The method used in this research was the qualitative descriptive method. It was used to describe the language attitude of young people in Ile Padung village and their responses towards the importance of learning English for their children. The research was conducted in Ile Padung Village, Lewolema district, East Flores Regency. The data were taken from seven respondents. The techniques of data collection were interviews and recording. The data obtained were processed following data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result shows that: (1) The language attitude of young people (ages 25-30) in Ile Padung village is negative. They do not have enough knowledge of using English which causes a lack of confidence in practicing this language. They also do not prefer to use English in communicating via social media. (2) The responses from young people in Ile Padung regarding the importance of learning English for their children are positive. The respondents admit that English is necessary to learn in this era. They believe that English should be taught and learned earlier so they can master this language and compete with other people in the future.
