There are many aspects of pragmatics; one of them is dealing with speech act. Speech act consists of many categories; one of them is directive speech act. This study entitled; “An Analysis Of The Directive Speech Act According To Yule Performed By The Character In Disney Tangled Movie”. This study’s aims to identify the directive speech act performed in “Disney Tangled Movie”. It found out what type of sub-categories directive speech acts used by characters in Disney Tangled Movie and to find out what type of sub-categories directive speech act are dominant used in the Disney Tangled Movie.This study used qualitative method in which data collection is done by watching the movie, analyzing the body movement and the dialogues of each character. A total of 145 directive speech act were successfully indetified. The result of analysis showed thet the sub-categories directive speech act of asking is the most dominant used in the movie (46, 24%).The least dominant used sub-categories directive speech act are admonishing and warning directive speech act with (0, 8%).The study also revealed the illocutionary act and Perlocutionary act.This study is expected to give some useful insights in understanding what directive speech acts is.
