<note>This research was about the implemented strategies used by debaters in using speaking components. The aim of this research was to identify and find out the types, the implemented strategy and the factors in using speaking components. The researcher formulated three research questions in this study: (1) what types of speaking components have debaters worked on to have a good performance in debating? (2) what kind of implemented strategies have debaters done in preparing the speaking components? (3) what factors affect their strategies to have good ability in debating? This research is qualitative research. The respondents of this research were eight debaters in the debate competition of Nusa Cendana University. The researcher analyzed the video, distributed questionnaires and conducted interviews. The researcher analyzed the video of the debating competition and then distributed the questionnaires. The researcher also conducted interviews with eight debaters. The researcher presented data in the form of a narrative description. This study found that each debater had different skills in mastering every speaking component and had the implemented strategy that they used or applied in using speaking components and the factors that affected those skills. Debate activity is expected can motivate students to use and improve their speaking components, and also they will be able to share ideas or some good strategies in preparing and using  speaking components with others without being nervous.
