This thesis entitled: AN ANALYSIS OF SPEEECH EVENT RIO RAKI RE’E RITUAL AND ITS CULTURAL VALUES IN LIO-MAUMERE. The research problem of this research is (1) what are the aspects, speech act and cultural values in Rio Raki Re’e ritual based in SPEAKING concept by Dell Hymes and Koentjaraningrat theory. This research aims to (1) To find out the aspects of Rio Raki Re'e ritual based on SPEAKING concept by Dell Hymes (2) To find out the speech acts used in the ritual (3) To know the cultural values of Rio Raki Re'e ritual in Lio tribe. The method that is used in this research is qualitative method. The data used in this research was Rio Raki Re’e ritual called what are the aspects in Rio Raki Re’e ritual, what are the speech act in Rio Raki Re’e ritual and the cultural values in Rio Raki Re’e ritual based on Koentjaraningrat theory. In this research, the writer used documentation and interviews as instruments. The writer analyzed the data by describing data based on Dell Hymes SPEAKING concept and Koentjaraningrat theory. The result shows that there were eight aspects in Rio Raki Re’e ritual based on SPEAKING concept by Dell Hymes and five cultural values in Rio Raki Re’e based on Koentjaraningrat theory. All the aspects in Rio Raki Re’e according to the SPEAKING concept by Dell Hymes have their respective functions that play an important role in all the processes involved in the Rio Raki Re'e ritual. The same thing also happens to the cultural values that exist in the Rio Raki Re'e ritual based on Koentjaraningrat theory, these cultural valueshave a close relationship with the life guidelines of the Lio tribe.
