Minor Sentences In The Film “The Hunger Games” Directed By Gary Rose

This thesis is about “MINOR SENTENCES IN THE FILM “THE HUNGER GAMES” DIRECTED BY GARY ROSE”. This study aims are to describing what types of minor sentences in the film The Hunger Games directed by Gary Rose and the use of minor sentences in the film The Hunger Games directed by Gary Rose. The writer used the theory of Charles Hockett (1958) to identify and analyze the data that have been found in the film. The focus of this research is the minor sentences in the film The Hunger Games directed by Gary Rose. The data in this research are minor sentences which obtained from the film. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative. The result of this research shows that there are only three types of minor sentences in the film, such as minor sentences without subjects, vocative minor sentences, and fragmentary minor sentences, can be found in this film. Aphoristic minor sentence is not found on this research. The amount of the data that are found in the film is total 122 sentences; they include minor sentences without subjects, totaling 24 sentences, vocative minor sentences, totaling 41 sentences and fragment minor sentences which consist of complementary fragment minor sentences, totaling 57 sentences, completive fragment minor sentences, totaling 8 sentences, special complementary fragment minor sentences, totaling 11 sentences, and exclamation-complementary minor sentences, totaling 28 sentences. This study is expected to provide more information about minor sentences to the readers.
