An Analysis Of Students’ Listening Comprehension Of Watching English Movie Without Subtitle By The Fifth Semester Students Of English Study Program Of Nusa Cendana University

The aims of this study are (1) to know the effect of watching English movie without subtitle on listening comprehension of fifth-semester students; (2) to know the difficulties of watching English movie without subtitle for English Study Program Students. The researcher took only 20 students in fifth semester of English Study Program. The method used descriptive qualitative method. In this study, the data was gained using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana theory about qualitative data analysis (data collection, condensation, data display, and conclusion). In data collection, the researcher used two techniques. They are questionnaires and follow-up interview.The first questionnaire was based on the first statement problems, and the second questionnaire was based on the second research problem. This study result strongly affected English Study Program Students' listening comprehension. Most students felt that watching English movies without subtitles helps them improve their English skills, especially listening comprehension. To know the effect of watching English movies without subtitles on listening comprehension of fifth semester students and the difficulities of watching English movies without subtitles for English Study Program students. It could be seen from the result and the average score of questionnaires 1 and 2. The answer from questionnaire 1 was increased. The average score of questionnaire 1 was 99,3, and the average score from questionnaire 2 was 51,6. The answer of the follow-up interview also showed that students still have difficulties while watching English movies without subtitles. Still, it is not more than the good effect of watching English movie without subtitle. In conclusion, watching English movies without subtitles for English Study Program students' listening comprehension is effective in practising themselves and can improve their listening comprehension.
