Abstract

In terms of intensity, EFL teachers of higher education should be expected to use English more frequently than those at lower levels. The intensity of using English of S1 graduate teachers therefore is assumed higher than that of non-S1 ones. Similarity, the intensity if using English by teachers with long teaching experience should be higher than those with less teaching experience. However, the case of EFL teachers of senior high schools in West Timor, East Nusa Tenggara province contradicts these expectations, A two-way ANOVA analysis did not show significant differences in the intensity of using English [based on] the teachers' English educational background (EEB) and length of teaching experience (LTE). This article correlates the intensity of using English with the teachers' EEB and LTE, and explains why the intensity does not differ significantly nor depend on either EEB or LTE.
