A Study On The Ability In Writing Descriptive Text By The Eighth Grade Students Of SMP N 1 Biboki Utara

This study was carried out under the title a study on the ability in writing descriptive text by the eight grade students of SMP N 1 Biboki Utara. The researcher was conducted for one month from april to may 2022. The subjects of this study were the eight grade students of SMPN 1 Biboki Utara that consisted of 33 students. The problems of this research are “ to what exten the students ability in writing descriptive text and what are the problems encountered by the eigth grade students of SMPN 1 Biboki Utara in writing descriptive text. The aims are to know the students ability and problems in writing a descriptice text .The method used in this study was Qualitatve method. The instrument the writer used to collect the data was writing test. The result of the study showed that students were able to write descriptive text. Most of the students gained good scores at the end. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of English lesson at the school was 70 (seventy). The mean score was 67,63. In conclusion the students’ writing ability was improved as indicated by the mean score gained.
