USING STORY TELLING TO INCREASE VOCABULARY OFSECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 13 KOTA KUPANG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022
XMLThe problems of research this study is: can the use of storytelling increase vocabulary of second grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Kota Kupang in academic year 2021/2022? This study aim to know whether the use of storytelling can increase vocabulary of second grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Kota Kupang in academic year 2021/2022. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 13 Kota Kupang, especially second- grade students in the academic year 2021/2022. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were 320 students as the population, and 32 students were selected as the sample (10% of the population). This study used quantitative method and consists of one cycle. In collecting the data, the students were given the multiple choice test and the number of items of the test was 40 items. The writer applied some formulas to analyze the data. The results shows that using storytelling can increase vocabulary of second grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Kota Kupang in academic year 2021/2022 because student scores increased in the post-test that is 2.579, the mean of students score also increased in the post-test that is 81 and level of ability of students increased in the post-test was categorized as excellent level 53%.
