Teacher’s Strategies In Teaching Reading To Grade Seven Students Of Aesesa State Junior High School In The Academic Year 2021/2022

This thesis is entitled ‘Teacher’s Strategies in Teaching Reading to Grade Seven Students of Aesesa State Junior High School in Academic Year 2022. This study aimed to find out: (1) the strategies used by the teacher in teaching reading. (2) the student's perception towards the strategies used by the teacher in teaching reading. (3) the student's reading ability after learning to use the strategies. The data were conducted in February 2022 from 1 class that consisted of 20 students in the seven grade of SMP Negeri 1 Aesesa. This study used the descriptive qualitative method, the instruments used were observation, questionnaire, test, and interview. The observation and interview were distributed to the teacher of the seven grade at SMP Negeri 1 Aesesa, then the questionnaire and test were distributed to 20 students of the seven grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Aesesa. Reading is an interactive process between the reader and the text, in which readers use their knowledge to build, create, and construct meaning. The findings of this research so that the teacher used two strategies in teaching reading. Those were the repetition drill strategy and learning audio strategy. The student's perception of the two methods is easier to understand, can convey and change opinions, get new ideas, can motivate them to think in the group, and the students can inure themselves to practice reading by giving question and answer it. And finally, it concluded that the students liked using those strategies.
