A Study On The Degrees Of Comparison In Tanamaringi Dialect Of Wewewa Language
XMLThe data of the result of this study were collected at Tana Maringi village in 2022. The writer selected five informants from Tana Maringi village, West Wewewa, South West Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara. During the coronavirus disease, the writer did the research by interviewing the informants by mobile phone, not face to face. The writer used three techniques to collect the data, they were elicitation, interviews and recording. The aims of this study are; 1.to know the comparison degrees in Tana Maringi dialect of Wewewa language 2.to know how the comparison degree ere expressed in Tana Maringi. The writer analyzed the data that were obtained to answer the questions of the research
problem: 1. What comparison degrees are there in Tana Maringi dialect oe Wewewa language. 2. How are the comparison degree. Based on the data analysis result, the writer found the words of positve degree are thre words, the words of comparative degree are two words and the words of superlative degree are three words from the four informants. In discussions, almost all thepositive, comparative, and superlative of Tana Maringi dialect Wewewa language are used based on the context that is being spoken. The words using certain unique ways with particular time. The writer took some words of each positive, comparative, and superlative. For examples; the word positive of (Gai-Kaiya) This phrasal expression is used to express the size or shape of two things that have the same size or shape for examples : Na jambu gai-kaiya kaladana na maroto (This guava is as big as that orange).The comparative of (Kiapo) This word is used to express comparison of size or form of the adjective for example: Na morru kiapo Elda buddi Asty (Elda is fatter than Asty).The superlative of (Louka Kiapo) this word is comparing the best things of people for examples: Na Louka-kiapo nduwa Na SMAK St. Thomas ne SBD (SMAK St. Thomas is the best school in SBD). The writer took some words of each positive degree,comparative degree, and superlative degree described them on discussion to answer the research questions of this study.
