The Use Of Pictures By An English Teacher In Teaching English Vocabulary To The Seventh-Grade Students Of State Junior High School 7 West Sabu Regency

This study aims to know the pictures that are used by an English teacher in teaching English vocabulary to the seventh-grade students of State Junior High School 7 West Sabu Regency and to find out the results of the use of those pictures to students in learning English vocabulary. The research method that was used in this study was the descriptive qualitative method. This research was conducted in one month from April 25th, 2022 until May 25th, 2022 at State Junior High School 7 West Sabu Regency. The subject of this research was an English teacher and 21 students in the seventh grade, especially class C. The writer used three techniques to collect the data: observation, interview, and questionnaire. The results of this research are: (1) the writer found that the pictures used by the teacher at State Junior High School 7 West Sabu Regency are a kangaroo and a rabbit picture or photos, cartoon pictures, and pictorial worksheets. (2) the results of use of those pictures in the teaching and learning process was very effective because through pictures media can improve students participation in studying English vocabulary and their vocabulary mastery was be better. They are more fluent in speaking and writing because they have enrichment their vocabulary. Therefore, students are more enthusiastic in learning the material, active in doing assignment, cooperative/collaborative in groups, and interactive when they learn through picture media. Their interest and motivation toward lessons can increase, making the learning process more fun and attractive.
