An Analysis Of Compound Words In Ipi Dialect Of Ende Language

This thesis is entitled: An Analysis of Compound Words in Ipi dialect of Ende language.There are four problems mentioned in this research:1) what are types of compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language used by the native speakers, 2) what are meanings of those compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language used by the native speakers, 3) what are functions of those compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language used by the native speakers, 4) what is the formation of those compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language used by the native speakers. The aims of this research are, 1) to identify the types of compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language, 2) to explain the meaning of compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language, 3) to describe the fuctions of compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language, 4) to describe the formation of compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language. This research used descriptive qualitative methods. The source of the data are 5 people as an informants who lives in Ipi, Tetandara sub-distric, Ende regency. The techniques used to collect the data were interview, recording, note taking and reflection. The techniques of data analysis used in this research involve identifying and describing. This research used the concept of Lieber (2009), where the concepts consisted of three types of compound words, the types were attributive, coordinative, and subordinative, those types also divided into two types, the types were endocentric and exocentric. Based on the finding the writer found that the compound word in Ipi dialect of Ende language included the 2 types of compound words proposed by Lieber (2009), namely attributive and coordinative. For attributive types, the writer found 17 compound words in in Ipi dialect of Ende language. While coordinative types the writer found 19 compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language, but there were no subordinative types in the compound words in Ipi dialect of Ende language. The writer also found 13 Endocentric types and 22 Exocentric types of compound word in Ipi dialect of Ende language.
