The Teachers Strategies In Improving Students’ Vocabulary At First Grade Of Man Lembata In The School Year 2022/2023

This thesis is entitled “The Teachers Strategies in Improving Students’ English Vocabulary at First Grade of MAN Lembata in The School Year 2022/2023”. The aims of this study are (1) To know the strategies that the English teacher of MAN Lembata uses toimprove the students’ English vocabulary. (2) To know the effectiveness of using the strategies by the teacher in improving students’ vocabulary. This study used a descriptive qualitative method to answer the research question. The instrument of this research were interview, observation, and questionnaire. The subjects of this research were the English teachers of MAN Lembata and students at first grade of MAN Lembata. The result shows that the teachers applied games, song, using YouTube as media for learning. Besides, story-telling, memorization and translation were used. In addition,
based on the teacher perception, those strategies were relevant to teach vocabulary to the students because they can mixed up more than two strategies in one meeting. Therefore, they taught using various activities and strategies to make students enjoy learning English.
