Improving Students' Reading Comprehension Of Narrative Text Through Picture Stories In SMP Negeri 9 Kupang Timur

The problems of this study are: (1) Can the use of picture stories to improving students reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang Timur (2) To what extent does the use of picture stories can improve reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMP NEGERI 9 Kupng Timur? The aim of this study are: (1) To know how far picture stories can improve the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students in SMP NEGERI 9 Kupang Timur (2) To find out the use of picture stories in improving reading skills for eighth-grade students. The method used was classroom research with the quantitative method. The research was conducted in SMP N 9 Kupang Timur. The population was eighth-grade students of SMP N 9 in the academic year 2022/2023. There were 175 students in the eighth grade of SMP N 9 Kupang Timur the population, and the sample was 35 students, or 20% of the 175 students in the population. The instrument used was a test. It was a multiple- choice test that consist of 25 items. analyzed by counting the average score of the test using picture stories after the treatment. The result shows that picture stories can improve students' reading comprehension because based on the obtained average score was 80,34. It means that the use of picture stories can improve the reading comprehension of the Eighth-grade students in SMP N 9 Kupang Timur in the academic year 2022/2023.
