Supervised by Tans Feliks and Hilda M.Nalley. Students always struggling in learning English due to the language difference. In this research, the writer aimed not only to identify the types of linguistic interferences that appeared during English learning process but also to find the factors that caused English learning problem and the efforts made by the students and teachers to overcome these problems. The subjects of this research were Grade Eight Students of St.Gregorius Catholic Junior High School which located in Buraen, Kupang Regency.The writer used observation, interview as instruments to collect the data and descriptive qualitative method to identify types of linguistic interferences, to find the factors and the efforts made by students and teachers to overcome their problems. The writer found that learners made errors in four aspects of linguistic such as in phonological, morphological,syntactical and lexical. The writer also found the factors that caused linguistic inteferences such as unfamiliarity towards English, lackness of vocabulary and less English practice. Most importantly, the students and the teachers admitted that to overcome the problems, they should practice more English, get new vocabularies and stay motivated.
