The education situation in Indonesia is experiencing problems due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students in the hospitality department of SMKN 3 Kupang experienced learning loss. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative. Data was obtained from observation and interviews. The researcher analyzed students' perceptions of their needs in English for Hospitality. The researcher analyzed the English teacher roles in the Hospitality Department at Vocational High School SMKN 3 Kupang. The critical point is using the syllabus in the learning recovery during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The findings showed the specific needs of students in 11th grade: the target needs of students speaking and listening skills are most needed in hospitality but are difficult for students to master. Learning needs: two types of students were found related to improving their English skills. Students who learn English just at school and students who learn English at school and at home. They want to learn much practice, specifically how to write and pronounce a word. The syllabus used: Learning during COVID-19 did not meet their learning expectations. Meanwhile, the recovery period of learning from COVID-19 met the expectations of learning knowledge and learning activities they expected. The curriculum used is the 2013 Curriculum specifically for the pandemic. The curriculum during the recovery learning from the COVID-19 pandemic is the Merdeka curriculum. The teacher used strategies: Learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic used
WhatsApp Group and Facebook inboxes to send assignments as document files. Learning in the recovery period of COVID-19: involving students showing and releasing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
