An Analysis Of Students’ English Literacy Activities At SMA Negeri 1 Hawu Mehara

This study was conducted to find out the supporting factors and inhibiting factors in the implementation of English literacy at SMA Negeri 1 Hawu Mehara. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used are observation, open questionnaires and interviews. The data sources for this research are students’, school principals, English teachers, and librarians. Based on the findings, the writer
examine and discuss the factors that support and hinder English literacy in SMA Negeri 1 Hawu Mehara : there are two supporting factors 1). Internal factors, namely Student interest, Students’ Motivation, How the students’ learn, Students’ Condition. 2). External factors, namely: Parents of Students’ and the Community. Factors inhibiting English literacy include internal factors, for example, lack of student motivation and external factors, namely students’ spending a lot of time on social media just to play, not to support a culture of English literacy, and other external factors, namely lack of support from teachers, lack of support of government for implementation of English literacy.
