This thesis is entitled: The Effectiveness of Using English Songs in Developing Vocabulary of Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 2 KUPANG in
Academic Year 2022/2023. The problem of this research is: is it effective to use English songs to develop the vocabulary of eleventh grade students of SMA N 2 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023?. This study aims to know whether it is effective to used English songs to develop vocabulary of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023. The typed method used was experimental method. There were two groups such as, experimental group and control group. The population of this research was 249 students of eleventh grade
of SMAN 2 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023. The sample was 20% of the population was 50 students. The instrument used was multiple choice test that consists of 40 items. The data were analized by computing the significance of the treatment of score, and by acounting the significance of the treatment by using English songs, counting the mean of scores between the control group and experimental group during the pre-test and post test. The pre-test and post-test were compared to determine the difference by using the t-test formula. The result
shows that it is effective to use English songs to develop the vocabulary of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023, because based on the score of t-ratio obtained was 3 and the degree of freedom was 48 and it was higher than 2.4 of the t-table at the 5% or P > 0.05 (5%) of significance, this means that null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means that it is effective to use English songs in developing vocabulary of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023.
