The Contribution Of Reading Frequencies Toward Grade Point Average Of Seventh Semester Students At English Study Program Of Nusa Cendana University

This research is aimed to find out the contribution of reading frequency toward grade point average of seventh semester students and the difference between male and female students GPA. The number of the population is 178 of seventh semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University. The instruments of collecting the data use questionnaire and documentation. The questionnaire consists of 20 item questions from 6 indicators. The documentation used to collect the data of seven semester student’s GPA. The collected data was analyzed by using Pearson Product Momen correlation. The findings of this research reveal that there is moderate level of contribution of reading frequency toward Grade Point Average of seventh semester students in academic year 2019/2020, and there is no significant difference between male and female students of seventh semester of English study program. The result of the study shown by coefficient correlation (rxy) is 0.503. It indicates that there is a contribution of reading frequency toward student GPA since it is included in the scale of r interpretation score between 0.400-0.600. With degree of significance 5%. This research also reveal that there is no significant difference between male and female GPA since the result of the Sig. (2-tailed) of Equal variences assumed of the table score is 0.147 with degree of significance 5%. Consequently, the conclusion reached is Ha rejected.
