This thesis in entitled: A Semiotic Analysis of Ame Molo in Were Village, Ngada Regency.The problems of this study are: (1) what are symbols found in Ame Molo in Were village in Ngada regency, (2) what are meanings of the symbol found in Ame Molo in Were village in Ngada regency, (3) what are function found in Ame Molo in Were village in Ngada regency. This study aims: (1) to find out the symbol which are found of Ame Molo in Were village in Ngada regency, (2) to describe the meanings of symbols of Ame Molo in Were village in Ngada regency, (3) to find out the function which are found in Ame Molo. The method used to collect the data was qualitative descriptive method. It was used to find out the symbols of Ame Molo in Were village, to describe the meanings of symbol in Ame Molo in Were village, and to describe the fuction of Ame Molo In Were village. The research was conducted in Werevillage, Middle Golewa subdistrict, Ngada regency. The data were collected from four key informants. The techniques of data collection were observation, interview, and note taking. Procedures of the data analysis used in this research were identifying and describing. The result shows that: 1. symbols found in Ame Molo, namely: ulu ame molo ( head of ame molo), ghubu ame molo ( roof of ame molo), lo ame molo ( body of ame molo),ture ame molo (the megalithic stones of Ame Molo). 2. types of meanings of symbols foundare: (a) religius meaning, example: mula tubo ame molo tau tubo lizu, kabu wi rame nitu lobo wi soy dewa ( that means ame molo to support the heavens, roots wrapped around evil spirits, and united with God. (b) social meaning, example: mai mogo-mogo wi ngo ame molo, raba roke ghemi ne’e molo (that means lets work together to work ame molo, so that it can get done quickly). The reeds are the symbol of wholeness and protection for all members of the tribe). (c) Didactic meaning, example: po robha nau maru, tedu da bepu dhepo be’o ( that means value inheritance system which is done by giving advice, daily advice in the morning and at night, inheritance of values carried ou by parents through living examples in teaching something to the younger generation). 3 Functions of Ame molo are: (a) Ulu ame molo (head of ame molo) which functions to keep the balance of ame molo. (b) Ghubu ame molo (roof of ame molo) which functions to keep the body of ame molo from the sun, rain and then to protect themselve from the arrogance of heart in social life. (c) Lo ame molo ( the body of ame molo) which functions as a place to tie sarcifical animals during traditional ceremonies.(d) Ture ame molo ( the megalithic stones of ame molo) which functions to maintain the balance of ame molo and it is also a place to feed male ancestors.
