Improving Student’s Vocabulary Through Toy Story Movie: A Study On Vocabulary Learning Of Grade Ten Students Of SMA Negeri 10 Kupang

This study is entitled “ Using Toy Story Movie to Improve Vocabulary Mastery of the first grade students of SMA Negeri 10 Kupang In the Academic Year 2022/2023”. It was conducted to answer the question how whether using Movie Toy Story could improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The aim of this study was to know if using the Toy Story Movie could improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The method used in this study was a classroom action research. The subjects of the research were seventeen students of the first grade students of SMA Negeri 10
Kupang. The data were obtained by means of observation and test. This study was conducted in cycle 1 of which contain planning, action, observation, and reflection. The result shows that, in the pre-test, the average score was 11.76 and in the cycle 1, the average value was 94,11. It means that in cycle 1, students have understood the materials by using Toy Story Movie and the students have achieved the minimum
standard score (65). This happens because based on reflection in cycle 1, such improvement was due to a number of factor namely they were given more opportunities to mastery vocabulary, they became more active, they were given more questions related to vocabulary and they were asked find out the meanings of the words from the Toy Story Movie, they were given more time and homework. It can be concluded that using Toy Story Movie as a teaching media to improve students vocabulary mastery was effective to students of SMA Negeri 10 Kupang. Therefore
this teaching media can be applied to improve students mastery of vocabulary not only in this school but also other school or class.
